Intended use: Chromogenic medium for the isolation and differentiation of Streptococcus B (S. agalactiae) from clinical samples.
Typical formula (g/l)*: Peptones and yeast extract 20.0; Salts 7.5; Agar 15.0; Chromogenic mix 4.5
Interpretation: Streptococcus B will grow as mauve colonies, other microorganisms are inhibited or grow as colourless or blue colonies.
Limitation: some strains of A, C and G Group streptococci may appear as mauve colonies, so final identification may require additional testing.
